The author was in charge of the institute for young blind people in Paris. He provides, in this important work, precise and technical means of instructing the blind and educating them in manual work, reading and music, with the aid of other senses. But above all the book allows for a reconsideration of the status of blind people and social reintegration of individuals previously marginalized by their disability.
