Our copy brings together the five palaeontological papers by the naturalist Paul-Henri Fischer (1835-1893): Middle Tertiary Fauna. - Lacustrine Tertiary Fauna. - Upper Marine Tertiary Fauna (Steppe Limestone). - Quaternary Formation (Raised Beaches). - Microscopic Organisms. These studies deal with fossil molluscs, annelids, bryozoans, corals, infusoria and algae discovered in various regions of Asia Minor, including Cilicia, the Troad, Lycia, Caria, the Taurus Mountains, Phrygia, Thrace, Pamphylia and Galatia.
For each species, the localities are recorded together with synonymies and bibliographical references. The text also incorporates a few typographical corrections (pp. 369 and 380).
