In this letter, entirely imbued with nostalgia linked to their shared youth and loves, Elvire Popesco expresses concern about the health condition of Louis Verneuil, whose muse she had become through their collaboration:

Il fait tout ce qu'il peut pour me faire rester ici, moi je fais tout ce que je peux pour le ramener dans notre pays où nous avons ensemble laissé au théâtre toute notre jeunesse. Carlo Rim was a Provençal writer, author of "Ma belle Marseille", a caricaturist, a filmmaker and was notably the friend of Fernandel, Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of Max Jacob and André Salmon whom he met in Sanary.
