Moving autograph letter signed (30 lines in blue ink from the Californian exile of Louis Verneuil, whose muse Elvire Popesco had become) Elvire, addressed to her friends Rim.
In this letter, entirely imbued with nostalgia linked to their shared youth and loves, Elvire Popesco expresses concern about the health condition of Louis Verneuil, whose muse she had become through their collaboration:

Mes chéris, je suis venue voir Louis Verneuil qui a été très gravement malade, un caillot dans l'aorte, et malgré une amélioration, les docteurs ne sont pas certains d'une guérison complète. Nous repassons ensemble des souvenirs de tant d'années de travail. Il fait tout ce qu'il peut pour me faire rester ici, moi je fais tout ce que je peux pour le ramener dans notre pays où nous avons ensemble laissé au théâtre toute notre jeunesse. Hélas, il ne peut pas supporter les voyages, tout au moins pour le moment. Je compte rentrer entre le 15 et fin avril et en attendant je vous embrasse de tout mon coeur. Elvire." ["My darlings, I have come to see Louis Verneuil who has been very seriously ill, a clot in the aorta, and despite some improvement, the doctors are not certain of a complete recovery. Carlo Rim was a Provençal writer, author of "Ma belle Marseille", a caricaturist, a filmmaker and was notably the friend of Fernandel, Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of Max Jacob and André Salmon whom he met in Sanary.
