Visiting card with his Parisian and Orsay addresses on which Gaston de Pawlowski has added a few words apologizing for not having time to visit his friend in Champagne.
The mention of Champagne brings back his memories as a conscript and of the 1914-1918 war: "... il fallait m'inviter en 1895 lorsque je me promenais avec le 132e dans vos environs ou en 1914 lorsque je battais en retraite par Epernay..." ["... you should have invited me in 1895 when I was walking with the 132nd in your area or in 1914 when I was retreating through Epernay..."]
