Autograph letter signed by Francis Viélé-Griffin (16 lines in purple ink from his Parisian home on rue Hamelin) addressed to Edouard Ducoté, poet, bibliophile and director of the review l'Ermitage since 1895. Fold mark inherent to being placed in an envelope, the year 1900 is written in pencil at the top of the letter completing the date of June 11th written by Francis Viélé-Griffin. He thanks his fellow poet Edouard Ducoté for his support contrary to certain critics who have recently savaged him: "... merci, mon cher ami, de votre témoignage de sympathie..." ["...thank you, my dear friend, for your testimonial of sympathy..."] also informing him of his upcoming visit to his home having missed him the last time. Intimate friend of Stéphane Mallarmé, friend of André Gide, Paul Valéry, Francis Jammes, Emile Verhaeren, Francis Viélé-Griffin is an American symbolist poet writing in French. He became, with Gustave Kahn, one of the principal theorists of free verse.
