With all his sympathy, Boris Vian sent his colleague Marc Bernard, twenty years his senior, a copy of his latest novel, "L'Arrache-Cœur". In 1958, the two writers met on the programme "Les grandes revues Littéraires", hosted by Marc Bernard. On this occasion, Boris Vian presented "Le Collège de ‘Pataphysique", founded in 1948, of which he was a prominent member. This "science of imaginary solutions", which aims to offer an unconventional and non-traditional view of reality, can be found in several of Vian's works. Sending "L'Arrache-Cœur" to Marc Bernard, which took place either before or after the programme occurred, reveals the intellectual complicity between the two men, who both produced certain works in a style close to that of the surrealist movement.
