First edition of Eugène Fromentin's first book. Half dark green shagreen binding. Smooth spine decorated with 4 small fleurons and fillets. Pale foxing to title page, otherwise very fresh except for occasional light marginal foxing. Account of Fromentin's journey to southern Algeria and his stay at Laghouat during the summer of 1853. The famous orientalist painter created a particular narrative of vision that is uniquely his own.
