First French edition translated by Madame Judith (with the authors' authorization). Contemporary half black shagreen binding. Spine with flat false raised bands decorated with fillets. Light rubbing. Some pale foxing. One foxing stain to margin of title. Good copy. A great and long friendship united the two successful writers as well as considerable collaboration in writing novels and plays. We find in L'abîme typically Dickensian themes while the book follows a typical Collins plot.
