Full red shagreen binding, spine with five raised bands decorated with double black compartments, gilt roulettes on the headcaps, frame of two blind fillets on the boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, pastedowns magnificently ornamented with a wide gilt dentelle and a large central gilt typographical fleuron, gilt fillet on the leading edges, all edges gilt, one lower corner slightly bumped, superb unsigned contemporary binding.
As frontispiece, an engraved portrait of Madame de Longueville.
