Half red shagreen binding, spine with four raised bands set with gilt dots decorated with double gilt compartments adorned with gilt fleurons at the corners, marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns (small paper lack at foot of one endpaper), original wrappers preserved, speckled edges.
Some foxing, very light marginal discoloration at head of first board, small black stains in margins of boards.
Rare autograph inscription signed, in German, by Kurd don Schlözer, on the first wrapper to a Madame de Staal.
