Extremely rare original albumen photograph, cabinet card format, mounted on cardboard, depicting Jean-Léon Gérôme. Dedication to Henry Graves in black ink with the signature JL Gérôme. Henry Graves was an American banker, collector and president of Patek Philippe and responsible for the Supercomplication, one of the most complex watches ever created. He purchased several works from Gérôme, notably A Sultan at Prayer. Caption beneath the photograph: Photographed by Charles Gallot. On verso, advertisement: Photographie artisitique, Charles Gallot, photographe des gens de lettres. Charles Gallot was a French photographer. Active in Paris from 1876 to 1898, he is notably credited with the last photographic portrait of Victor Hugo during his lifetime, taken on April 12, 1885.
