First French edition published a few months after the first edition printed in Belgium.
Half black shagreen binding with corners, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt fillets showing minor traces of rubbing, one joint cracked and restored at head, double gilt fillet frames on black paper boards, corners slightly bumped, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, top edge gilt.
Work illustrated with 571 figures in text and on separate plates as well as a chromolithographic frontispiece.
