First edition with 22 folding plates and a folding table engraved by Prévost and Defehrt. Contemporary marbled sheep, spine in decorated compartments. Red morocco title and volume labels. Marbled edges. Triple blindruled fillet to covers. Headpiece of volume II fragile. A few leaves a little browned. Two corners rubbed. A very good copy. A fundamental work on the subject, in which the author suggests a new classification: coleoptera, hemiptera, insects with two pairs of scaled wings and insects with two pairs of plain wings, insects with a single pair of wings and wingless insects. The work also looks at crustaceans, from woodlice to crayfish.
