Theophile Bordeu (1722-1776) is considered one of the greatest physicians of the 18th century, and one of the most famous theorists. He is the founder of pathological physiology and his work would give birth to Bichat's General Anatomy. The work in question reports important discoveries on the structure of tissues, and notably, it is one of the principal books on cellular role and importance. His vitalist physiology principles would earn him being taken as a model by Diderot in D'Alembert's Dream. ["To worthily praise this beautiful work, it suffices to say that it certainly gave Bichat the idea for his General Anatomy, and that it became a chapter thereof, through one of those fortunate thefts that Bichat knew how to have forgiven by adding a host of remarks that belonged only to him."] From the Broussonet library, with wet stamp and autograph signature.
