First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 4 unsigned figures of full-length portraits of Saint Bernard, Saint Ambroise... Some music plates. Contemporary full vellum binding. Smooth Jansenist spine. Title in black ink. Leaf 655 detached. The binder has inverted two leaves at the beginning of the work (epistle and preface). This supplement to the works of the Church Fathers consists of 5 short treatises on music, three of which are attributed to Saint Bernard. Other treatises follow, including a life of Saint Augustine by Jordanum de Saxe and theological considerations by Saint Hildebert. The whole comprises rare writings not usually found in the corpus of works of the Church Fathers.
