TAKEDA ruled over Yamanashi. UESUGI ruled over Nagano. Both regions are located west of Tokyo. The 2 shoguns fought 5 or 6 times on the island without being able to defeat each other. The island is situated in the course of the Shinano river. The drawings contain particularly expressive battle scenes, on horseback, on foot, with lance or sword, often bloody, with decapitation or mutilation.
