New edition. A frontispiece and a portrait in volume I, an allegorical frontispiece for volume 2 (the Gigantomachy), a frontispiece and a portrait in volume III (the same as volume I), a title-frontispiece in volume IV, a frontispiece and 4 figures for volume V (Le Virgile travesti), a frontispiece in volume VII (Le roman comique), a frontispiece and a portrait (the same as in volume I) in volume IX, the same frontispiece as the previous one for volume X. Volumes III and V are dated 1695. The half-title of volume X was curiously printed on the verso of the frontispiece. Title pages in red and black. Fine printing on fine paper. Pierre Mortier published the works for the first time in 1695 in eight volumes, to which he added 2 volumes in 1797, while continuing to reprint the first volumes. The publisher continued to reprint this collection of 10 volumes in 1700, then 1704. This high-quality collected edition is well before Wetstein's edition of 1737, also in 10 small volumes cited by Brunet. Contemporary glazed blonde calf binding. Raised band spine decorated. Red morocco title labels, beige morocco volume labels. All head headcaps lacking or torn. Foot headcaps of volumes III and X with lacks. Upper joints at head of volumes I, V, VIII and IX cracked. Upper joint of volume X cracked at foot. Upper joint of volume IV narrowly cracked. 3 corners bumped. Despite these defects, handsome set in blonde calf with perfectly fresh paper.
