    First edition of this celebrated illustrated issue featuring artwork by Le Barbier, with the plates engraved under his supervision. Engraved frontispiece portrait of the author by Le Mire and 15 finely engraved full-page plates after drawings by Le Barbier. 
    Contemporary full glazed red Russia leather binding, attributable to Bozérian l'aîné. Smooth spine tooled with four small concentric ornaments and gilt rules. Gilt fillet border to covers. Wine-coloured tabis silk endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Light rubbing to the binding. Small loss of paper at the upper right corner of the title page in Volume I. Volumes III and V are dated 1695. The half-title of volume X was curiously printed on the verso of the frontispiece. Title pages in red and black. Fine printing on fine paper.

    Contemporary half-shagreen binding with corners. Spine with raised bands decorated with gilt compartments and inlaid with a central black fleuron. Gilt titles and date at foot. Separating fillets on boards. Top edge gilt. Uncut copy.


    A very fine copy in superb condition.

    New illustrated edition which is joined to the Elzevier collection, illustrated with a repeated frontispiece and eight charming plates (four in each volume) unsigned.
    Nineteenth-century binding in full chocolate morocco, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt compartments and fleurons, date at foot, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt dentelle framing the doublures, all edges gilt. Ex-libris from the library of Don Joannes Baptista Moens (1855) mounted on the doublures of both volumes.
    Spine sunned, otherwise a handsome copy.

Spine with raised bands decorated with 17th-century inspired tools in compartments. Gilt titles and date. Covers and spine preserved. Some pale foxing on title page, very occasional foxing thereafter. Very fresh overall.

    A little light insignificant rubbing, spines uniformly slightly faded, but otherwise a very good copy.

    Late 19th century matt dark green morocco by Ramage of London, Jansenist spine in compartments, fillets to interior, edges gilt. A small area slightly darker than the rest at head of upper cover, the slight difference in color possibly due to the leather itself. A superb copy perfectly bound, very fresh.
