Volumes III and V are dated 1695. The half-title of volume X was curiously printed on the verso of the frontispiece. Title pages in red and black. Fine printing on fine paper.

Nineteenth-century binding in full chocolate morocco, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt compartments and fleurons, date at foot, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt dentelle framing the doublures, all edges gilt. Ex-libris from the library of Don Joannes Baptista Moens (1855) mounted on the doublures of both volumes.
Spine sunned, otherwise a handsome copy.

Gilt titles and date. Covers and spine preserved. Some pale foxing on title page, very occasional foxing thereafter. Very fresh overall.

With illustrations drawn by Le Barbier and engraved under his direction. Portrait of the author engraved by Lemire and 12 illustrations engraved by Baquoy, Dambrun, Duclos, Hubert, Petit, Romanet and Simonet.
Contemporary light-brown marbled calf, spine with gilt latticework decoration, gilt fillets and fleurons, red morocco title-piece and volume labels, gilt fillets and striae to edges of covers, gilt roulette frame to covers, delicate gilt roulette around pastedowns, all edges gilt.
A little light insignificant rubbing, spines uniformly slightly faded, but otherwise a very good copy.

Collected edition of the first seven books, which appeared between 1648 and 1653, first edition of the eighth book. As almost always, this copy has only the seven books. It has an unsigned frontispiece etching.

Late 19th century matt dark green morocco by Ramage of London, Jansenist spine in compartments, fillets to interior, edges gilt. A small area slightly darker than the rest at head of upper cover, the slight difference in color possibly due to the leather itself. A superb copy perfectly bound, very fresh.
