19th-century full red morocco binding, Jansenist spine, gilt date and place at foot, comb patterned paper pastedowns and endpapers, inner gilt dentelle, covers double-ruled in gilt, all edges red. Binding signed Chambolle-Duru.
Provenance: library of Mortimer L. Schiff , banker, owner of the New York Post and one of the founding members of the Boy Scouts of America, with his bookplate to the front pastedown.
