    Important Greek-Latin dictionary. The German humanist E. Lubin (1565-1621) taught poetics at the University of Rostock from 1595 to 1605 before becoming professor of theology. Fine Elzevier edition in small type. Between 1620 and 1680, Elzevier production experienced a golden age of typography. The origin of small formats and small type (a technical feat at the time) lay in cost considerations, as printing was then in crisis.

The work is anonymous, but the preface leaves no doubt about the book's author; the translator appears to be Abbé Dinouard, who had published an Abrégé de l'Embryologie sacrée in 1775. A very interesting and remarkable reflection on caesarean operations and on the nature of the living in human beings. This is undoubtedly the first time that the foetus, or premature babies, were considered as living beings.     Initially a magistrate then diplomat, Nicolas de Buzenval (1611-1679) received the diocese of Beauvais in 1650 where he showed great diligence and profound rigor, developing policies favorable to the poor. He quickly took up the cause of Jansenism and opposed Rome's ability to dictate conduct to a French bishop.

    The work is a dissertation from the University of Jena on the kingdom of Arles under the patronage of Johannes Strauch, professor and advisor at various German universities. The kingdom of Arles is in fact the kingdom of Burgundy, and was thus named by writers who had been dazzled by the ancient city and who wished to give a Roman ancestry to Burgundy. The research, very scholarly, focuses particularly on the origins of Burgundy.
