First edition of these four memoirs extracted from Volume II of the 3rd installment (Antiquities Section) of the Description de l'Egypte. The memoirs are noted as chapters XVIII, XIX, XXI, XXIII, XXV (one should not be surprised that the chapters do not follow consecutively, as the apparently missing chapters are found in another volume of the third installment published at a different date). Each article is separated from another by a blank leaf. Modern cream parchment paper boards. Black sheep title label. Uncut copy with full margins. Very precise descriptions of monuments by eyewitnesses based on their notes, surveys and drawings taken in situ, numerous notes and historical, geographical and other considerations. The descriptions are often introduced by a travel narrative.
