    Second edition, partly original as it is considerably expanded (cf. Sabin 59254, Howes 7805, F. Monaghan 1171).

    Half black shagreen binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt double fillets and a gilt pastoral motif, a restored tear to the headcap, black paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, contemporary binding.

    Scattered foxing.

    Provenance: Copy from the library of Marquis Claude-Emmanuel-Joseph-Pierre de Pastoret (1755–1840), with his heraldic device gilt-stamped at the foot of the spine.

    Contemporary half green sheep, smooth spines faded and decorated with double gilt fillets, marbled paper sides with minor rubbing, marbled endpapers, two small tears at the joints, contemporary bindings.

    Light waterstain to the upper right corner of a number of leaves in the second volume.

    An Indian traveller, Mirza Abu Taleb Khan was born in 1752 at Lucknow in Hindustan and died in Calcutta in 1806. 

    After serving in the army of the Nawab of Oudh, he embarked for Europe on 16 February 1799 with his friend Captain David Richardson.

    First edition, illustrated with 8 figures engraved by Delvaux, including two portraits of Me Guizot and Me Perier-Candeille.
    Contemporary full red morocco-grained calf binding. Spine with false raised bands decorated with Restoration tools; cold and hot fillets; roulette at head and foot. Fillet frame on boards and large cold-stamped plate with successively a medallion, a diamond and a rectangle, the last two figures with different gauffrages. Edges gilt. Very handsome copy.

    First edition, illustrated with a title vignette and 6 figures engraved by Lambert after famous paintings. At the end of the work, 12 pages with engraved frames featuring different motifs including astrological signs, one per month; the souvenir section to be filled in by the owner.
    Contemporary full straight-grained red morocco binding. Smooth spine decorated in grotesque style with a central radiating tool and scattered stars (the spine evokes Bozerian bindings). Decorative border on covers. Scattered pale foxing, very light. Edges gilt. Very handsome copy.
    The almanac contains the calendar for the year and numerous texts by Ducis, Tissot, Fanny de Beauharnais, Boufflers...
