First French edition on ordinary paper. Small light stains on the spine and front cover. Autograph inscription dated and signed by Saul Bellow to his friend Nadine Nimier, wife and widow of Roger Nimier: "For my dear friend Nadine : for her kind eyes. Saul."
First edition, one of 108 numbered copies on Lafuma Navarre paper and reimposed in Tellière quarto format, deluxe copy. Half burgundy morocco binding with bands, spine slightly faded with four raised bands, marbled paper boards, endpapers and pastedowns, slightly soiled covers and sunned spine preserved, top edge gilt, signed binding by Myriam Lambert. A handsomely established copy.
