The bibliography of the eminent Chilean historian José Toribio Medina Zavala (1852-1930) is extensive, though he is chiefly known for his works on Chile and Latin America. He also took an interest in other Spanish possessions, as shown by this short monograph, which appears to be the only early study devoted to the subject.

Small tears to spine and along the margins of the wrappers, with a few marginal tears to some leaves owing to the poor quality of the paper.

First edition, bringing together in a single volume the three Persian sections issued by the Elzeviers at Leiden in 1639: the Historia Christi Persice conscripta and Historia S. Elzevirian edition of the text of Julius Caesar, following the review established by the philologist and humanist historian Joseph Justus Scaliger (1540-1609), associated with the University of Leiden; this posthumous edition appeared twenty-six years after Scaliger’s death.

First edition of the publication of Johannes Van Meurs, printed in Greek and Latin. It contains in particular the De administrando imperio which despite a general title at the date of 1617, wears the colophon date of printing of 1611. This text, known thanks to manuscripts, had never been printed before.
