Librairie académique Perrin & Cie|Paris 1882|16.6 x 25 cm|Broché
First edition, printed in a small number of copies, of this offprint from the November 1881 issue of the Revue archéologique, illustrated with a photogravure plate.
Gustave-Charles-Ernest Chocquin, known as "de Sarzec" (1832-1901), discovered the site of Lagash while serving as vice-consul in Basra (1877-1899), and financed the excavations there at his own expense.
As a curator at the Louvre, Léon Heuzey was kept informed of the objects unearthed during the excavations.
An attractive copy despite slight marginal losses to the wrappers.
