First edition. Lacking to spine, some foxing to cover. The château of Navarre, near Evreux, was built by Joan of Navarre in 1330 then rebuilt by Louis XIII. Joséphine de Beauharnais stayed there for two years after her divorce. The château was destroyed in 1836. At the head of the work, a folding plan of the château and gardens. The work draws upon all rare, unobtainable or lost documents relating to the history of the château. Very rare.
