Complete with the 2 leaves of the publisher's catalogue.

    Autograph inscription by Stéphane Mallarmé to his friend François Nys : "A monsieur Nys très sympathiquement."

    This copy enriched in forntispiece with a portrait woddcut in red of Villiers de l'Isle-Adam by Marcellin Desboutin, which he inscribed for François Nys. This portrait, present in the second edition of 1892, is not present in every copy of the tirage de tête.
    Two very clear dampstains, not serious, in the margins of the first and final free endpapers, two small marginal dampstains to the covers.

    Half brown morocco Bradel binding by T. Boichot, gilt date to foot of spine, marbled paper boards, covers (with skillful marginal repairs) and spine preserved, top edge gilt.
    Autograph inscription from Villiers de l'Isle-Adam to Victor Wilder, the poetic translator of the works of Richard Wagner.
    The inscription records the friendship of the two men, which developed most of all in their collaboration on the Wagnerian review until 1888. A very good copy in a good binding.

    Notes of a bibliophile covering all the guard compared to the first preserved cover plate.
    Some foxinges mainly affecting the first and last leaflets, shadows, some spots on the handwritten letter.
    Our copy is exceptionally enriched with a beautiful autograph letter, mounted on tab, 4 pages dated and signed by Louis de Grammont addressed to Villiers de l'Isle Adam in which he regrets that the writer of Axel...

    Contemporary half yellow shagreen over marbled paper boards, spine in six compartments with double gilt compartments and angular floral motifs, double gilt fillet frame to covers (small stains), marbled endpapers and pastedowns, corners slightly rubbed, top edge gilt.
    Autograph inscription from Auguste Comte de Villiers de l'Isle-Adam to his friend Amédée Joubert. This copy is further enriched with two autograph corrections to the text by the author.
    Occasional small light spotting.
    Provenance : F. Renard, with his ex libris pasted in.
