Small stains at foot of first cover and first leaves.
The first cover bears a scathing judgment on this work, a previous owner also specified the true name of the author hiding behind the pseudonym Van Engelgom.

Provenance: from the library of Paul Lacombe with his handsome engraved bookplate illustrating the Pont-Neuf seen from the bouquinistes of Quai Conti.

Full red shagreen binding, spine with four raised bands set with gilt fillets decorated with gilt compartments adorned with gilt floral motifs, gilt roulettes nearly faded on headcaps, triple gilt fillet frame on boards, white watered silk endpapers and pastedowns, double gilt fillet frame on pastedowns, all edges gilt, gilt fillets on leading edges.
