Prêtre du Diocèse de Vannes (1816-vers 1834). Co-fondateur avec son frère Jean-Marie de la Congrégation de Saint-Pierre (1828-1834). Ultramontain, puis (1835) républicain. Quitte l'Église. Transforme son nom en "Félicité Lamennais". Représentant du peuple à l'Assemblée constituante (1848) et député à l'Assemblée législative (1849-1851)
Jusque vers 1834, il signe ses œuvres F. de La Mennais ; ensuite, F. Lamennais
