Rare autograph letter dated January 25, 1975 and signed by William Goyen, in French (with some errors) to Christian Giudicelli thanking him for his kindness and availability (24 lines in black ink).

Sometimes addressing him formally, sometimes informally, William Goyen warmly thanks his correspondent: "Merci de votre entretien que me plait beaucoup. C'est dommage qu'on a abrégé, mais tu peut à en user plus tard, n'est-ce pas ?" ["Thank you for your interview which pleased me very much. It's a pity that it was shortened, but you can use more of it later, can't you?"]
William Goyen regrets not being able to correspond as regularly as he would like with Christian Giudicelli: "trop de mois sont passé sans nouvelles de vous, mais nous ne pouvions écrire à faute de la grève. Mon cher ami. Que nous pouvions parler : il y a tant de choses que je voudrais prendre part à toi... je vous remerciez mille fois les tendresses et les bontés quand j'étais la avec toi et mon ami de grand prix Maurice Coindreau." ["too many months have passed without news from you, but we couldn't write because of the strike. My dear friend. How we could talk: there are so many things I would like to share with you... I thank you a thousand times for the tenderness and kindness when I was there with you and my dear friend Maurice Coindreau."]
