First edition of the French translation established by Jean-Jacques Moulinié, the only translation authorized by Charles Darwin during his lifetime.
Indeed, the first French translation by Clémence-Auguste Royer published in 1862 by Guillaumin & Cie and Victor Masson & fils was denounced by Charles Darwin.
This important 1873 edition is also augmented with a chapter as well as notes and additions by the author.

We have not been able to find any copies of this photograph in any of the international public collections.
