One of Batlette's first works, whose success enabled him to devote himself to making several journeys and books, on Canada, the United States, Asia Minor, etc... The romantic treatment of the animated views brought him success, but also the precision of his surveys and drawings taken from life. One of the first important books on mountains, with texts that are both descriptive and poetic by Beattie.
