Poète, dramaturge. Fondateur de la revue "Sic"
Poète, écrivain, peintre, sculpteur et homme de théâtre français. Après une première carrière artistique influencée par la fin du Symbolisme, Birot (Pierre, Albert) devient en 1916 le poète et peintre Pierre Albert-Birot, éditeur de la revue "SIC" qui rassemble cubistes, futuristes et dadaïstes. Il met en scène "Les Mamelles de Tirésias" de Guillaume Apollinaire en juin 1917 et commence d'écrire du théâtre. Il compose plusieurs pièces pour marionnettes ("Matoum et Tévibar", "Matoum en Matoumoisie", une "Scène birotechnique", "Le Petit Poucet, Quand on est trois"), des petites farces pour Guignol ("Guignol veut s'enrichir" et "L'Anguille", inachevée), une adaptation de "Barbe-Bleue" pour des marionnettes de 2 mètres de haut, mais il mêle aussi pantins et statues animées dans ses pièces pour acteurs: le polydrame "Larountala", le poème dramatique "La Légende", le drame tragique "Image", les drames comiques "La Dame enamourée", "L'Homme coupé en morceaux", "Les Femmes pliantes".

    Pierre Albert-Birot mentions in this letter a letter that he was waiting for but did not receive and that he wants his colleague to send him back.
    The creator of the magazine SIC , close to the avant-gardes and in particular Cubism and Futurism, saw the beginning of the 1930s the mourning of his companion Germaine Albert-Birot. He describes this contemporary as his "time of solitude" . They are still years of creation for the artist. It was indeed in 1933, thanks to the recommendation of Jean Paulhan, that the first two books of his epic Grabinoulor, begun in 1918, are published by Denoël. He continues to write the book until his death and his new companion Arlette Lafont will struggle to publish the last four volumes of this book.

    Pierre Albert-Birot's letter is an invitation. He enjoins his addressee to come to his home on Saturday, July 22 and to call him if he can not.

    Dampstains to foot of spine and marginally to boards, tiny nick to head of first board, handsome interior condition. We include with this copy the subscription card and invitation to the dinner organized for the book's publication in March 1970.
