Lettre manuscrite signée adressée à son ami Jos Joliet: "... pour le reste de la "vie", je vous parlerai aussi - mais tout est très lourd, très dur..."

Autograph letter signed by Jacques Derrida to his close friend and former student Joseph Joliet, nicknamed Jos, 24 lines in violet felt-tip pen.
Very attentive to Joliet's writing, Derrida prefaced his novel "L'enfant au chien assis" (The Child with the Sitting Dog), and supported him during difficult times of his life (cf. Derrida by Benoit Peeters).
In this missive, Jacques Derrida conveys to his friend Jos all the enthusiasm he has upon hearing from him and reading his words:
"My dear Jos,
thank you for your letter - it does me good, despite its sadness. Good because it speaks of fidelity - but also because it speaks of strength and the desire to write." The philosopher also evokes the Collège de France: "As for the 'college', it's hard to tell you much in a letter, it's all in 'detail'...", "... and among other things, we could talk about this new 'institution'...".
The philosopher ends this letter pessimistically, with little to cheer about: "... for the rest of 'life', I'll talk to you too - but it's all very heavy, very hard...".
Letter creased in the middle due to its folding in an envelope.
