In this text from the beginning of his parliamentary career, which can be considered foundational to his political thought, Lamartine develops precise conceptions: a vision that is at once practical, ambitious and deontological of politics based on a global conception of social organization. When La politique de Lamartine appeared in 1878, this text was placed as a preface to the collection of speeches and works, because it already contained what Lamartine later developed. It is an important political work, a demonstration of faith, the first time also where the author praised Saint-Simonianism.
