Full black cloth binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt arabesques, sextuple blind-stamped fillets framing the boards, title and vignette depicting an allegory of victory accompanied by a cherub stamped in gilt at the center of the front board, corners very slightly bumped, yellow paper pastedowns and endpapers, publisher's binding. Contributions by Honoré de Balzac and Charles Baudelaire among others. 8-page journal abundantly illustrated with woodcuts by the greatest artists of the time. One torn page with loss to text at No. 689 Our copy is complete with the large double-page folding engraving. Very handsome copy in its rare publisher's binding.
