Full black cloth binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt arabesque ornaments, sextuple blind-stamped fillet framing the boards, title and vignette representing an allegory of victory accompanied by a cherub stamped in gilt at the center of the front board, corners very slightly bumped, yellow paper endpapers and pastedowns, publisher's binding. Contributions by Paul Féval, Alexandre Dumas and Stendhal among others. 8-page journal extensively illustrated with woodcuts by the greatest artists of the time. Copy complete with the large double-page folding engraving. Very handsome copy in its rare publisher's binding.
