Handwritten postcard signed by Kees van Dongen addressed to his wife Augusta Preitinger also known as Guus van Dongen, written on the reverse of the colour photograph postcard showing the Caliphate tombs in the desert around Cairo.
Van Dongen addressed this card to his wife during his first journey to Egypt; fascinated by the country, he returned in 1928.
