Anonymous mid-19th century manuscript, written in several hands, comprising 82 pages of dessert and pastry recipes on one side; and, on the reverse, 42 pages of recipes for savoury dishes and sauces (the two sections separated by 18 blank leaves).

Contemporary binding in full flexible green Russia leather, smooth spine without lettering, ruled in gilt, covers decorated with gilt fillets and corner ornaments, comb-marbled endpapers, red edges.

Tour Malakoff, Beignets Besançon, orange biscuits, assorted preserves, cinnamon petits fours, almond or chocolate macaroons and other delicacies enliven the dessert section, while the reverse of the notebook offers recipes for game, a variety of sauces, and cheese croquettes.
