The memoir traces the research of the nilometer on Elephantine Island, its description and function, as well as the importance of the discovery, since this nilometer, in addition to providing a history of Nile floods, was used to raise and measure the pyramids. The author infers from this a reflection on the metric system of the Egyptians and the ancients.
