The blind stamps of a congregation on the boards of the first volume have been filled with leather. Giovanni Stefano Menochio was an Italian Jesuit priest of the 17th century, who died in 1655 in Rome. He was a highly renowned theologian, his commentaries concerned essentially the Holy Scriptures, and numerous editions were made of them. This edition is a reprint of the Tournemire edition published in 1729, in folio. It is considered to be the best organized.
