Second edition of this French translation. At the end of the work "Achevé d'imprimer pour la seconde fois le 7 juin 1622." Illustrated with an engraved title-page and a frontispiece. Absent from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France which holds a copy from 1725 published by Herissant, absent from French and English catalogues. Full brown speckled calf binding mid-19th century, spine with raised bands in Jansenist style. Title on black calf label. Title-page and engraved title reinforced with a paper strip in the right margin. Some scattered foxing. Some marginal dampstaining, notably at the top of the title-page. This work translated from Italian is a treatise on the passions and abnegation of the will typical of the 17th century, but under the guidance of the New Testament. It is a mixture of Stoicism and Christian morality. Engraved bookplate in a medallion: Picard Avenionsis.
