Contemporary glazed full calf binding. Spine with raised bands decorated with grotesques. Central fleurons on boards and corner ornaments. Top headcap worn away. Bottom headcap torn off. Lower joint split over 10 cm. Endpapers renewed late 19th century. 3cm tear on p. 3. Brown stains on first leaves.
Le Royer de Prade's third play was not intended by the author to be printed, as evidenced by the publisher's preface. This tragedy in alexandrine verse was long read in salons from 1650 onwards, and several testimonies report the esteem in which it was held, notably by Corneille.
