First illustrated edition. One title vignette, one frontispiece and 3 handsome figures before the lettering. The title vignette bears the signature of Bernard Picard. Title page in red and black. Half red morocco binding with corners, late 19th century, signed Dubois-D'Enghien. Spine with raised bands, decorated. Gilt title, date at foot. Double fillet border on boards. Gilt edges. Very handsome copy, perfectly executed, and in perfect condition. The work is an imitation of the Greek novel The Loves of Rhodanthe and Dosicles by Eustathios Makrembolites; it tells the story of thwarted love in ancient Greece.
