Contemporary brown glazed full calf binding. Decorated raised spine. Red morocco title label, and black morocco volume label. Head of volume II partly worn. A tear at the head of volume II. Slight lack to the fourth raised band of volume I. Lacking the second marbled endpapers in volume I.
At the origin of this work, Pierre Lelong had asked several provincial scholars for bibliographical notices on their region to integrate into La bibliothèque historique de France, but the scholars sent historical memoirs and the collection was published separately. It thus contains rare information on little-studied towns: Annonay, Avalon, Béziers, Braine, Charenton, Laval, Milly, Montargis, Nemours, Saulieu, Bayeux.
