Famous trial for impotence and frigidity. Emilie de Mascranny brought proceedings against her husband to annul their marriage to which she had brought a dowry of one million seven hundred thousand livres, on grounds of impotence. The trial caused a great stir and people would reserve seats to be entertained by it. Besides the official proceedings and documents, the work also contains satirical pieces on the question of virility and male potency.
