First edition, extracted from the first installment of the Description de l'Egypte, section: Antiquities, Memoirs. Bound in full modern cream parchment boards. Black sheep title-label with gilt title. Very fine condition, as the copy is as issued, full-margined, on laid paper. The memoir consists of an archaeological study of the two types of murrhin vases (already well known to the Romans), those from Persia and local production. The author surveys the bibliographical data on the vases and their mineralogical nature.
