"In September 1899, the German national Heinrich Vasilyevich Vesenberg became the owner of the ‘Vesenberg & Co.’ photographic studio, located at No. 32 on the corner of Voznesensky Prospekt and Srednyaya Meshchanskaya Street (the former workshop of Heinrich Tolvanen). In the early 1900s, Heinrich Vesenberg renamed the ‘Vesenberg & Co.’ studio to ‘G. Vesenberg’ (Photography by G. Vesenberg). In July 1912, Lydia Rudneva became the new owner of the ‘G.     Albumen print, mounted on cardboard with a printed brown ink border  published by the Wesenberg studio in St Petersburg. Tolstoy's name has been stamped in Cyrillic on the verso. Slightly sun-faded, as usual. One spot and a slight white mark to the lower portion.
    A handsome copy of this photograph depicting Count Tolstoy in peasant clothing.
