The very rare first collected edition, first in parts, of the works of Claude de Morenne (1550-1606), preacher to King Henri IV and Bishop of Sées.
Contemporary cream-colored supple vellum, spine with fillets and little gilt fleurons, double gilt fillet frame to covers, all edges gilt.
One tiny wormhole to top edge.
This collection is dedicated to Secretary of State Villeroy and contains, as well as various Funeral Orations and Eulogies (124 ff.), the Cantiques spirituels (77 pp.), the Quatrains (20 pp.) and les Poemes divers (104 pp.). Engraved ex libris with the initials PR and a device of Notre Dame protecting France with the genealogy of the French kings.
